Marking MCM’s 50th anniversary, this exhibition presents an exclusive edition created in collaboration with INDEN-YA, a Japanese traditional craft house with more than 400 years of history.
INDEN-YA carries on Kōshū Inden, a traditional Japanese craft technique in which lacquer patterns are applied to deerskin. Passed down over generations, Kōshū Inden is distinguished by the delicate textures and intricate patterns created through the combination of leather and lacquer.
For this collaboration, MCM’s signature Visetos pattern has been newly interpreted through the traditional techniques of Kōshū Inden. As MCM’s design language meets the craft tradition carried forward by INDEN-YA, the familiar Visetos takes on a new expression through different materials and techniques.
